3 Questions to Ask when Hiring a Creative Studio

It’s common for business owners (specifically small businesses) to want the best bang for their buck without compromising quality. Starting a business and building a brand takes a village! And hiring a creative yet strategic studio is an important part of bringing a vision to life.

“Hey Google! Search “Creative Studios” …” Thousands— millions of creative and multi-disciplinary studios can be found on the internet these days. How do you know which one is the best fit for your business?

Here are three questions for you to ask before hiring a creative studio:

1. What is your process and what am I buying?

First of all, communication is key. Before hiring a creative studio you might be thinking the following questions:

  • “What does the timeline of the project look like?”
  • “How much will all of these services cost?”
  • “What is your process?”

Besides, by asking a creative studio these questions, you’ll be able to gain insight into their professionalism, ease of client communication and quality of services. A strong and trusting creative agency exists so you can spend more time focusing on growing your business and less time worrying about how to attract consumers.

2. What is most important to you as a branding and creative studio?

Second, just as your business has a mission and vision statement, so should every agency! Every business serves a purpose. Similarly, an agency worth hiring will be able to share their perspective on why investing in design and strategy is key to building, growing and sustaining a successful brand.

3. What does your ideal client look like and how do you communicate with them?

Lastly, it’s important to note that all strong creative studios have a niche. Whether that be in their design style, approach or roster of clients and industries worked with. A well established niche will help define an agency’s ideal client and whether you’d be a match.

Likewise, no agency should work with “everybody” just as your business shouldn’t serve “everyone”. It’s important for an agency to set the stage with who their ideal client is and what the client to agency relationship looks like.

As a result, this will set an expectation as to how you will potentially communicate and interact with them.

Ask away! The more questions, the better the insights. A professional agency who believes in your brand and mission will approach the answers to these questions with care and transparency.

People don’t buy from businesses. They buy from humans. Like in any relationship, it’s essential to work with an individual or a team whose values and missions are in alignment with yours.
